ABC2: Journal of Architecture, Building, Construction, and Cities

ABC2 Journal

The built environment is encountering significant challenges, from rapid urbanisation and climate change to environmental depletion and socioeconomic inequality. These challenges demand knowledge development and research that cross the boundaries of architecture, building design and practices, construction technologies, and urban studies.

ABC2 is an open-access journal (ISSN 2978-6282 - Online) that engages with the full spectrum of built environment-related disciplines and professions, including Architecture, Building, Construction, and Cities.

ABC2 aims to empower research for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) through promoting dialogue among academics, professionals, and policymakers, to address pressing and timely challenges towards creating truly sustainable built environments. Focusing on cutting-edge research, advanced technology, and transformative strategies, ABC2 is a platform for meaningful research findings that defy present challenges and envision a better future.

ABC2 emerges from the combined editorial trajectories of the two eminent, highly acclaimed journals, Archnet-IJAR: International Journal of Architectural Research and SASBE: Smart and Sustainable Built Environment, building on their leadership and established strengths into advancing an integrative vision of the built environment.

In Memory of Dr. Tomasz Arciszewski

2026-07-29

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Dr. Tomasz Arciszewski, Professor Emeritus of Civil Engineering at George Mason University.

Tomasz was a truly global scholar. His career carried him across five continents and 24 countries, beginning at Warsaw University of Technology and continuing through posts in Nigeria and at Wayne State University. Over the decades, he authored nearly 180 research and technical publications, leaving a body of work that shaped his field and inspired generations of engineers and built environment researchers.

Tomasz served as a valued member of the Advisory Board, where his insight, expertise, and quiet dedication left a lasting mark on the journal's growth and direction. We are profoundly grateful for his guidance, his generosity of spirit, and the wisdom he shared so freely with our community.

Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues as we honor his memory and the remarkable legacy he leaves behind.
