ABC2: Journal of Architecture, Building, Construction, and Cities

The built environment is encountering significant challenges, from rapid urbanisation and climate change to environmental depletion and socioeconomic inequality. These challenges demand knowledge development and research that cross the boundaries of architecture, building design and practices, construction technologies, and urban studies.

ABC2 is an open-access journal (ISSN 2978-6282 - Online) that engages with the full spectrum of built environment-related disciplines and professions, including Architecture, Building, Construction, and Cities.

ABC2 aims to empower research for Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) through promoting dialogue among academics, professionals, and policymakers, to address pressing and timely challenges towards creating truly sustainable built environments. Focusing on cutting-edge research, advanced technology, and transformative strategies, ABC2 is a platform for meaningful research findings that defy present challenges and envision a better future.

ABC2 emerges from the combined editorial trajectories of the two eminent, highly acclaimed journals, Archnet-IJAR: International Journal of Architectural Research and SASBE: Smart and Sustainable Built Environment, building on their leadership and established strengths into advancing an integrative vision of the built environment.

ABC2 Receives DOI Registration: Permanent Digital Identifiers for All Published Articles

We are pleased to announce that ABC2: Journal of Architecture, Building, Construction, and Cities has been granted DOI (Digital Object Identifier) registration through Crossref. This is an important milestone in the journal's development, demonstrating ABC2's commitment to international standards of scholarly publishing, discoverability, and long-term accessibility. Each ABC2 article is assigned a DOI following a clear and consistent structure like this: https://doi.org/10.66408/abc2.YYYY.ID

The DOI is composed of three elements following the prefix. The registrant code 10.66408 is the unique prefix assigned to ABC2 by Crossref, identifying the journal as the registrant. This is followed by abc2, the journal's abbreviated identifier. Next, YYYY denotes the publication year of the volume in which the article appears (e.g., 2025 or 2026.or later). Finally, the ID is a unique article identifier drawn from the journal's manuscript management system, ensuring that each article carries a distinct and traceable number from submission through to publication.
